Selflessly participating in the country’s initiative to battle and contain the spread of the Novel Coronavirus, Safir Hotels & Resorts (SHR) generously offered its Safir Fintas Kuwait (SFK) and Safir Airport Kuwait (SAK) property to Kuwait’s Ministry of Health and the director of Al-Farwaniyah Department of Health. Safir Cairo Egypt has also been donated to the Kuwaiti Government, and is currently hosting Kuwaiti nationals awaiting repatriation to Kuwait.

As of Sunday 5 April 2020, the Kuwait properties' rooms, suites and apartments will house healthcare professionals, medical staff, doctors and nurses and their families. Safir Fintas and Safir Airport Kuwait will remain at the disposal of the Ministry of Health for as long as the authorities deem appropriate.

Upon handing over the hotel to Mr. Mutlaq Al-Huraiji, the representative of Farwaniyah’s Department of Health, SHR’s CEO Fawzi Al Musallam said: “We are proud of the quick and decisive action taken by Kuwait and its authorities in such unprecedented times. Our government – under the wise leadership of His Highness the Emir and His Highness the Crown Prince, may God protect them – looks after its citizens with the utmost care and generosity. We consider this situation to be an important opportunity for us to support the country, its people and one brave segment of the population who are in the forefront of the fight against the pandemic – our medical professionals. We are happy to contribute to the success of our country’s efforts to contain the spread of the virus.”

Al Musallam extended his warm praises beyond Kuwait’s efficiency in dealing with the global health crisis to the efforts of all workers in the first lines of defense, from the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Health, Interior, Finance and Trade, in addition to the Kuwait Municipality, representatives of Kuwaiti diplomatic missions abroad, officials in the General Administration of Civil Aviation, NGO’s and volunteers on the front lines.

He thanked the commitment of all citizens, residents and private and government agencies for supporting the government’s measures and adhering to its instructions regarding quarantine, curfew, and precautionary procedures designed to limit the spread of the virus and to maintain the safety of all.

Al Musallam ended by wishing a speedy recovery to all Novel Coronavirus patients, who are being looked after under the care of the wise leadership of His Highness the Emir and His Highness the Crown Prince, may God protect them.
